To inspire a rapidly expanding network of compassionate peacebuilders across Liberia and Africa, fostering unity, healing, and sustainable change.
To cultivate grassroots-to-national networks of dedicated individuals committed to peace, reconciliation, and nation-building. Through action, collaboration, and empowerment, we equip communities to drive lasting transformation.
The founders of the Compassionate Peace Foundation (CPF) envisioned a future free from the cycle of strife, war, and division that has plagued communities of diverse backgrounds. Through selfless action and collaboration, we seek to heal the wounds of the past and rebuild trust among neighbours.
CPF emerged in response to some of Africa’s darkest days. Liberia endured three devastating phases of civil conflict, fuelled by tribal and religious divisions, political manipulation, and systemic marginalization. The wars of the 1990s–2003 left deep scars: broken trust, social fragmentation, and a legacy of inequity. Neighbouring Sierra Leone and Guinea faced similar turmoil, proving that without compassion and reconciliation, violence becomes a recurring tragedy.
As a former refugee who lived and worked across Liberia, Africa, and beyond, the founder recognized a critical gap: the absence of compassion, cooperation, and empathetic action as pillars of lasting peace. Alongside a dedicated team of peace advocates, CPF was founded to address this need—not just in Liberia, but across post-conflict West Africa.
Liberia’s rich cultural heritage offers a powerful foundation for healing. With over 17 tribal subgroups united by shared values, traditions, and languages, the nation has a unique opportunity to restore social harmony. Cultural and religious principles—long overlooked in peacebuilding—can be a driving force for reconciliation, unity, and renewal.
